If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you might have seen Part 1 of this post… It’s all about the Shoes.
I have a big soft spot for beautiful footwear, and have spent months trying to justify in my head why it was ok to spend £650 on a pair of Jimmy Choo’s for my big day. I’ve also been keeping an eye out for a high street alternative!
As I mentioned back in April, I was hoping to find some Rose Gold shoes to go with my engagement ring… but I also toyed with the idea of plum (to go with one of the Bridesmaid dresses) or something full on and totally over the top sparkly. All I knew was that I didn’t want anything too traditional.
A couple of weeks ago, I was meeting up with my bridesmaid Laura in the Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham. She was running a bit late so I decided to kill time wandering around Selfridges, and found myself on the shoe department. I tried on about 5 different pairs of sparkly, metallic beauties but had issues with toe cleavage and sensible heel heights. Laura arrived, and we went for a browse around the rest of the shops.
We walked into the first shop to admire some of the clothes and I spotted my shoes on top of one of the rails. At around £100 they were still pricey, but much more affordable than my Jimmy Choo benchmarks! I asked to try them on, and the sales assistant told me they only have one pair left. Being a size 6 (and one of the most common shoe sizes in the UK) I thought I’d have no chance. So when she said the last pair left was a size 6 I decided it was fate!
I don’t want to tell you too much about them as I would like my whole outfit to be a surprise for Christian on the day, but I can tell you they are totally impractical and (dare I say it) even more beautiful than the Jimmy Choo’s! And I cannot wait to wear them!
