I apologise for my lack of posts recently. I found that Diary of a Bride was starting to feel like a chore rather than the pleasure it started out being. I was getting too concerned with Google Analytics and worrying about not writing enough posts. So I decided I would keep it simple, and only write an update when I have an update! Unfortunately, I can’t spend every day doing wedding bits and bobs. So some weeks I may not have very much to say. However as the wedding approaches, I am expecting I will have plenty to update you on!
Anyway, onto my Rustic Plant Pot Candles. I have quite a clear idea of all the little details on our wedding day. As we are having a Tipi in October, we are going for an Autumnal Rustic ‘theme’. I recently bought a collection of terracotta plant pots on eBay. There was a mixture of shapes and sizes, including some really cute tiny ones! I am using some of the larger pots to grow some plants (Hydrangea’s and Dahlia’s) but annoyingly, they have been almost destroyed by pesky slugs. I am going to persevere, because I really love the idea of having fresh plants on the tables (and it would also save a few pennies). For the smaller pots, I wanted to make some candles. A while ago, I made some candles out of jam jars. I was really pleased with how these turned out, and want to mix up the tables with a variety of different vases and candles. It was a bit of trial and error, but I think I’ve found a simple and effective method to create my Plant Pot Candles….
You will need:
Twine or String
Double Sided Tape
Stick the double sided tape to the pot, just under the rim.
Peel off the backing
Start sticking the twine down, wrapping it around until the tape is completely covered
Use PVA glue to stick the end down
Create a bow with another piece of twine
Use another blob of PVA glue to stick the bow down. I put this over the end of the twine to keep it looking neat
To make the candle, I used the same method as before (full details on this post here)
And that’s it! What do you think?
