I had the week off work last week, hence the reason for my recent spurt of How To posts!
As you probably know by now, I LOVE getting stuck into a craft project. I decided I wanted to make my own Polaroid frame after seeing this image on Pinterest
I didn’t actually follow any instructions for this. I just made it up as I went! I used a Polaroid design for our Save the Dates, so basically just scaled up the design!
So if you would like to have a go…
You will need:
Black Sharpie Pen
I bought my board from Homebase, where they will cut it to size. So I started with a piece that was already correct at 88 x 107cm. If your local DIY store is not quite so helpful, you can cut to size (follow the instructions below for my tips on how to cut the board).
Using the template as a guide, draw on internal shape using the ruler and pencil
Once you are happy with the design, use the ruler, craft knife and cutting mat to score the line into the board.
Using the jigsaw, carefully cut along the scored line. This can be quite tricky, so you will need a steady hand. I find that putting the jigsaw on a high speed is easier.
Sand down the rough edges.
Now you can paint! I just used a standard emulsion paint. I painted both sides, being careful to get the inside and outside edges. I found I needed three coats.
Finally, add your own wording (or leave blank if you prefer). I drew the design on in pencil first, and then went over it with a black Sharpie pen.
I am going to hang my frame from one of the beams in the Tipi, using some thick twine. But depending on the style of your wedding, you could use something else such as ribbon.
Now I just need to start collecting some props! First stop… eBay!
