A few weeks ago (and almost a year to the day until our wedding), Christian and I went along to the Papakata Tipi Open Weekend. Twice a year, they set up their stunning Tipi’s for prospective brides and grooms to go and see. Even though we had already booked our Tipi, this was the first time we had seen them in all their glory! And we were not disappointed!
We decided pretty much straight away that we wanted a wedding day that was a bit different, and more personal to us. The Hotels we went to see offered package weddings, which are great for those that want a traditional day, with the support and guidance from a wedding co-ordinator. But for us, we felt this was too restricting. Thanks to Pinterest, we came across the idea of a Tipi.
As a Buyer, I love a bit of negotiating… and spent some time getting quotes from various Tipi suppliers. We decided to book with Papakata for several reasons… one being their location. They are only based about an hour away from our wedding venue (which saves us on delivery charges). But the biggest reason was their glowing reviews. As an established business, they know all the potential problems that could arise, and how to deal with them. They also have plenty of staff and spare parts should anything go wrong! This was a really important factor for me, as I wanted to be confident in knowing that in the run-up to the big day, I have one less thing to worry about!
So back to the Open Day… We went along with the hope of seeing the various table and chair choices, and getting some inspiration on the decorations and flowers. After having a quick look around, we sat down for our appointment with Rhian. I have been emailing Rhian since I first sent an enquiry to Papakata almost a year ago. It was lovely to put a face to the name. She was extremely helpful, and happy to answer all of our questions. By the end of the meeting, we had come up with our floorplan, decided on which tables and chairs we would have, and added a few extra details including a wine barrel cake stand and the most amazing disco ball I’ve ever seen!
We left the open day feeling happier than ever with our chosen venue and theme for our big day. Roll on next year!
