If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know by now that I’m quite crafty! You can see my other craft posts here.
My latest project is these Mr & Mrs Signs. I like the idea of hanging these over the back of the chairs at the reception, they could also be used as props in photo’s.
I’ll be honest, I’m not 100% happy with how these have turned out. But the design is in chalk so I can wipe it off and have another go. I’m just not too sure what I want it to look like yet.
If you would like to have a go at making your own…
You Will Need:
Board (I used the left over board from the Photobooth I made recently)
Chalkboard Paint or Spray Paint
Twine or String
Use the jigsaw to cut around your shape. This bit is really quite fiddly so take your time.
Now you can spray your wedding signs using the Chalkboard Paint (you can see more about the paint and chalk pens I use here). I needed a couple of coats both front and back. Make sure you leave the signs to dry completely.
Now it’s time to decorate. I suggest drawing out the design in pencil first. Also… make sure that you have got the signs the right way up before you spend ages on the design. I made this mistake!! And had to wipe it completely clean before starting again. It’s very annoying!
This is where I started to change my mind… I drew a leafy design to match our place names but I think it looks a bit like a caterpillar. So I am still deciding what I am going to do instead.
Finally, thread the twine through the holes and tie in a knot. I left my knots quite exposed as I like the rustic look. But if you want something a bit neater you could just tie the knot neatly behind.
And here they are! What do you think? Do you fancy having a go?
