The Engagement Ring

Lucy Blackmore :: in Jan 6, 2014 :: in Engagement, Engagement Ring, London, Personal Diary :: 4 comments

I first spotted my engagement ring in May in the Astley Clarke concession in Selfridges, London. I had been for some sushi with friends and wandered through the jewellery department on our way out. I had (often) thought about what my engagement ring would be like, but I would have never have thought to look for anything other than a diamond until I saw it.

I wondered about how to tell Christian I had seen it without scaring him into never proposing… But I knew there was no way he would think to go for something so unusual. Especially when we had looked in jewellers windows a couple of times, and he had pointed to more traditional solitaire designs.

I eventually plucked up the courage to show him the website. He wasn’t keen on the idea at first. Then out of the blue he suggested we go down to London to try some rings on. Obviously I said ok!!

First stop was the Astley Clarke studio where I could show Christian the ring in real life. He agreed it was pretty special but still wasn’t 100% convinced. We then spent The afternoon browsing the jewellery quarter, trying on every size, shape and colour available! We ended up in Liberty where I spotted the Astley Clarke concession, so I snuck over to have another look. Christian came up behind me and said he loved it… But he hadn’t realised it was the same one! Yay!

I was told to forget all about it… Easier said than done!

Then almost 4 months later when he proposed and I saw he had chosen THE ring!

I bet you’re dying to know what it looks like now! The ring itself is Morganite and Rose Gold. The only other piece of jewellery I wear daily is a gold locket, but I’m not overly concerned about matching metals. I just think the warmer tones suit my skin better than silver or platinum. Morganite is a gem quality beryl and varies in colour from peach to pink. Astley Clarke select the stones in a stunning light peach to compliment the Rose Gold. As a crystal, Morganite stands for Divine Love. What could be more perfect for an engagement ring!

So you’ve heard all about it… Now here are the pictures.

Astley Clarke also have a matching wedding band…
