It’s all about the Shoes!
Good evening all. I mentioned in my Mother of the Bride post last week that I was going to London at the weekend. We set off bright and early on Saturday morning, catching the train from Leicester. An hour later we arrived and made our way to Oxford Street. I am going to post a full update on the outfits we tried so keep an eye out for that. But for now, I am going to talk to you about shoes! My favourite subject!!
Now that I know what dress I will be wearing on our big day, I am starting to think about the shoes! I have to admit, I am a bit of a shoe addict. I spent 4 years working for Moda in Pelle both in their Harrogate store and at their Head Office in Leeds. I even wrote my dissertation about shoes!
The Shoe Gallery in Selfridges is spectacular! For those of you who haven’t been, it is 35,000 sq ft dedicated to shoes. Prices range from Topshop up to Christian Louboutin. My budget is definitely within the high street end of the scale… but there is no harm in dreaming!
I have a few criteria for my bridal shoes:
1 – I don’t want Ivory, as I would prefer to buy some shoes that I know I can wear again.
2 – I would like something with a fairly chunky heel or wedge, as the floor of the Tipi is matting and stiletto’s could be problematic.
3 – I am looking for Rose Gold… not too champagne, and not too pink. My engagement ring is Rose Gold and I have got it into my head that I want matching shoes. This part is proving the hardest!
The first style that caught my eye was Malibu from LK Bennett. The colour was close to perfect and the heel was skinny but a good height. So I was gutted when I tried them on and saw the major toe cleavage situation! They are very low cut and I have big fat toes!
The other pair I tried were perfect… the colour is exactly what I’m looking for. The heel was sky high and the skinniest stiletto I’ve ever seen, but hey! who want’s to be sensible! The big BUT here is the price tag! I have typically fallen for £650 Jimmy Choo’s! But aren’t they just beautiful!
Unfortunately, my budget just wont stretch to £650, so I am still on the look out! If anyone has seen any that fit my criteria… I would love to hear from you!

loved our shopping trip and girls day out in London with you Lu. I hadn’t planned to try any outfits on, not feeling comfortable with my size at the moment but with your encouragement I did try on a few ‘rather’ expensive outfits in Selfridges and Phase Eight….and I was pleasantly surprised…..and it was so lovely to see the smile on your face as I appeared from the changing room….and with the final touch of the hats and fascinators just finished it all off nicely…..I didn’t make any decisions and I didn’t find any shoes, but I do think I have moved on in the journey! As for your shoes….I also loved the Jimmy Choo expensive ones….shame they were perfect for you…..lets hope someone sees something suitable with a more manageable price tag…!! Here’s hoping….Looking forward to our next trip…..now where shall we go and when…..????
